Gooey Chocolate Cake

Oh my, but this is nice!


6 oz plain flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

3 tablespoons cocoa powder

4 tablespoons caster sugar

2 eggs

¼ pint vegetable oil (I use sunflower)

 ¼ pint milk

2 Mars bars

2 tablespoons milk


Set oven to 375F, 190C, Gas 5

Grease and line the base of an 8 inch cake tin

Sieve flour, baking powder and cocoa into a bowl.

Mix in the sugar

Beat eggs together

Mix oil and milk to the eggs and combine well

Add to the dry ingredients and combine well

Spoon into prepared tin

Bake for 35-40 minutes until well risen

Turn out onto a wire rack to cool

To make the topping:

Cut Mars bars into small pieces

Place pieces and milk into a bowl over a pan of hot water

When melted, stir and pour over cooled cake, allowing it to run down the sides

Chill for 5-10 minutes
